Restoration of the Tower Door

The Scottish Weather takes it's toll on buildings especially when the buildings tower over the city. Inspection of the tower found that the door out to the parapet had seen better days and had witnessed the extremities of our weather.

Our talented Church Officer Jim Withers set to, using his wonderful skills, and made us a new door.

The door looks resplendent within the spire, the quality of the wood and craftmanship will ensure it lasts for years.

Remembrance Sunday saw the Kirk filled to capacity with young and old.

Kirk hosts Annual Sleepout for 4th Year

The fourth annual Perth sleep out will be held on Wednesday, November 20 outside St John’s Kirk, to raise awareness of homelessness and raise money for CATH (Churches Action for the Homeless). The sleep out involves members of the public and teams being sponsored to spend a night sleeping rough around the kirk, to try and get a small sense of what it is like to be homeless. Brian Cowan, chief executive of CATH, explained: “We do the sleep out to help support people who are either currently homeless or under threat of homelessness. “Last year we had about 80 people at the sleep out and generated £8500 and it all went back into supporting vulnerable people locally.” Explaining what happens on the night, Brian added: “Registration will start at 7.30pm, and the sleep out will officially be from 8pm until 6am around St John’s Kirk. “We will be supported by the Territorial Army and the Street Pastors and last year we got hot pies from a local baker, soup, and Chinese food from Pete Chan
